The Sala Silvermine Hotel, in Västmanland County, Sweden, has created a room so far beneath the earth’s surface that it can only be accessed through a mine lift shaft.

There is no cellphone reception, so visitors can only communicate with the outside world through a dedicated intercom. Temperatures have been known to drop to a chilly 2ºC at the bottom of the mine, but the room is in a warm air pocket of 18ºC
