South African Airways (SAA)has announced its launch of an Airbus A330-200 plane for its Harare route.
The A330-200 plane according to aviation websites can seat 256 passengers in a three class configuration, or alternatively 293 in two classes.
SAA currently has 18 flights per week – all being Harare bound – a significant increase from the 8, 12 and 14 flights, respectively – which were once permanently fixtured two years ago.
The airline also flies into the resort town of Victoria Falls seven times a week, once to Bulawayo every day, through its sister company – Airlink.
Dubai based Emirates which is set to launch its Harare route next year revealed it would also be deploying an Airbus 330-200 aircraft on the route in a three-class configuration that offers 12 luxurious First Class seats, 42 seats in Business Class and generous space for 183 passengers in Economy Class.
Starting 1st February 2012, EK 713 will depart Dubai on every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 0925hrs, arriving in Lusaka at 1450hrs, the airline said.
Apart from South African Airways ,Air Zimbabwe, Kenyan Airways, and Ethiopian Airways are the other airlines currently flying to Harare from London.
Air Zimbabwe, however, remains the only airline offering direct flights.
