"The diamond producer said it will continue to engage government to finalise its indigenisation plan."
Murowa Diamonds, 78% owned by Rio Tinto Plc, says it has received approval from the Indigenisation ministry for its community based empowerment scheme.
“We received approval from government to proceed with the implementation of a community equity shareholding in the business as part of our indigenisation plan,” the company said in a statement.
The diamond producer said it will continue to engage government to finalise its indigenisation plan.
The announcement by the company comes after it was listed among 11 foreign owned firms by government given a 14 ultimatum to submit acceptable indigenisation proposals or risk losing their operating licences.
