Botswana Diamonds on Wednesday announced its admission of shares to trading on London’s Aim.
Botswana Diamonds, which emerged after the C$82-million Lucara Diamonds takeover of African Diamonds in August, also said that it would examine opportunities in the emerging diamond markets of Zimbabwe and Cameroon.
The company’s current focus is, however, on Botswana, it holds three exploration licences with known kimberlites containing diamonds.
Chairperson John Teeling said that as Botswana Diamonds have held these licences for a considerable amount of time, the company was exploring options, such as bulk sampling AK8/AK9 and core drilling BK5.
“We see excellent potential, though early stage, in licence PL7/2004 in the east of the Orapa region. A sampling and drilling programme is planned for this year,” he noted.
Botswana Diamonds has $2-million in cash available to fund exploration through 2011.
Botswana Diamonds holds all the interests of African Diamonds apart from AK6, which is a joint venture with Lucara.
