A IMF technical team will be arriving in the country today for a 12 day working mission.

The mission comes at the request of Finance Minister Tendai Biti and will comprise staff from its capital markets department.

The staff is expected to provide assistance in the areas of  (i) payments systems; (ii) lender-of-last-resort operations and banking supervision; and (iii) central banking governance and accounting while further teams from the institutions Fiscal Affairs Department will provide technical assistance in the areas of (i) tax policy and (ii) tax administration.
